Acer Aspire One - The Ultimate Netbook

Acer Aspire One is the best netbook currently available on the block. In fact if it wasn't for its mini netbook looks it would beat many laptops in features and looks. Everything about Acer Aspire One exudes brilliance. Be it the ergonomically designed keyboard, the web cam, memory or the processor, everything fits perfectly and delivers awesome performance.

To start with, Acer Aspire One weighs in at 2 lbs. This makes it arguably one of the lightest in its class. This is because it holds a Solid State (SSD) hard disk with 160 GB of space. Acer has used 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom Processor which is quite efficient and makes the overall experience quite nice. If you look at the side profile, you would notice 3 usb ports, 2 on the right side and 1 on the left. Apart from this there is a standard video output port, a micro sd slot, Kensington lock port, ethernet port, earphone and mic 3.5 mm ports. The ram provided by Acer is 1 GB DDR 2. Acer Aspire One also boasts a 2 Mega Pixel camera and an inbuild microphone. The screen size is 8.9 inches with a high resolution of 1024X600 pixels.

The keyboard is very well designed. Although it has small areas but typing is not a problem. The keys are firm and operate without much noise. The function key provides acces to some very good shortcuts. You can switch on/off audio, turn the screen blank, put the netbook on sleep mode, enable/disable the touchpad using the function key combinations. The touchpad is a standard two button pad with left and right buttons on either side. The buttons are a bit hard to operate though.

Acer Aspire One comes preloaded with Windows XP Home Operating System and one year warranty. The only drawback is tha Acer Aspire One lacks an optical drive reader. But in the age of usb memory sticks this should not be a problem.

All this comes at a very reasonable market price of $350.

  1. This is what I am using to type. It takes a little getting used to but it is surprisingly ergonomic, great little fast light machine.
